Teen Wins $60,000 For Text Messaging

16 year old Iowa teenager Kate Moore is a serious texter... but instead of racking up the cell phone bill she is racking up prize money. Moore entered the LG U.S. National Texting Championship winning a total of $60,000 in prize money in the last year. The competition is harder then just sending short little messages. They are challenged to text phrases like the 'Zippity Do Dah' jingle from Mary Poppins. Moore was able to text the whole jingle in less than 60 seconds. Her quick texting skills are what helped her and her partner place second behind a team from Korea. What did she do with the money? Well being responsible she put a lot of it in savings, then bought a new laptop and some clothes. She is considering taking her family on a vacation and donating some of it. Who would have thought texting could be a money making opportunity.
