Toyota To Halt Sales Of Certain Vehicles

With the recall of several models of Toyota vehicles, the car company has decided to stop sales of 8 car and truck models. The most recent recall is for gas pedals that are sticking causing vehicles to continue to accelerate out of control with the potential to cause life threatening injuries. They are even halting production of vehicles in 5 auto plants from Texas to Canada until they can fix the problem. The models that are sidelined include the popular Camry and Corolla, currently the recall includes 2.3 million vehicles. Toyota said "it is unaware of any accidents or injuries due to the pedal problems associated with the recall but could not rule them out for sure."

Other vehicles that production and sales have halted on include; 09-10 Rav4, 09-10 Matrix, 05-10 Avalon, 09-10 Corolla, 07-10 Camry, 2010 Highlander, 07-10 Tundra and 08-10 Sequoia.

Martha Stewart... Following in Oprahs Footsteps?

Just a short time after Oprah announced that she was ending her talk show on network TV to start her own cable channel, Martha Stewart just announced that she too is leaving network TV. Although she does not yet have her own cable channel, the Hallmark Channel is offering her a new home with control over most of the daytime lineup. Stewart said they were in the works of the transition before Oprah made her announcement, but that Oprahs decision reinforced their goal to go cable.

Going To The Movies? Are Your 3D Glasses Clean?

While I am not a movie goer, nor have I ever watched a movie in 3D, many thousands of people have gone to see Avitar and other 3D films lately. Which has raised the question, how clean are those cheesy 3D glasses that the theater gives you? While most companies make disposable glasses that are to be thrown away when done, some companies make reusable glasses. The reusable glasses are to be cleaned to the manufactorers specs which usually means theaters have to use a special or commercial dishwasher, a special detergent, and keep the water at a certain temperature. Some theaters don't have to follow that procedure, high end theaters like some found in Hollywood hire someone to hand wash the glasses. And some other theaters don't clean them at all they just provide a disinficting wipe with each pair.

Who would have thought so much went into seeing a movie in eye popping display? But it does give you something to think about the next time you head to the movies, 'how clean are my glasses?'

Ways To Make Extra Cash Without Giving Up Your Regular Job

With the economic crunch making things difficult for most people and families, we are trying to find new ways to make extra cash without giving up the sercurity of our regular jobs. According to Yahoo Finance here are some tips to bring home some extra ching.

1) Sell It; The quickest way to make some cash is to sell something, with great outlets like Ebay and Craigslist it has become easier to sell your old book or record collections. Some people have actually been so successful as this that they made it a full time business by selling other peoples things for commission.

2) Rent It; With your house being one of your biggest asset more people are turning to renting out rooms or basements or bringing in a roomate. This can work really well if you live in a college or tourist town where housing can be at a premium.

3) Say It; Many companies will pay you for your opinions or for sampling their products for feedback. Many places online offer this opportunity.

Taylor Swift Tries Interior Decorating... With Odd Ideas

Taylor Swift is about to start decorating her Nashville apartment. It is expected that a woman with that much money would spring for expensive and lavish decor, but her ideas come across as just plain odd. In an interview with Rolling Stone she talked of her imaginitive plans, that include a water filled moat surrounding her living rooms fire place with a koi fish swimming inside. While that doesnt sound that far out there, her plans for the rest of the place do. She plans to have guests step on a stepping stone to cross a pond to get to a spiral staircase that leads to a human sized birdcage. She plans to outfit the birdcage with a brass telescope to match her ceiling which will be painted like the night sky. She will have plenty of room to do anything she wants with a penthouse that measures 4062 sq ft.

This sounds like something straight out of a fairytale so I guess it is fitting for Taylor.

Denny Hamlin Injured 3 Weeks Before Daytona 500

With the kick-off the the 2010 NASCAR racing season just weeks away, a non racing injury has rocked the NASCAR world. The driver of the # 11 Toyota Fed-Ex car, Denny Hamlin suffered an injured that may throw his entire season, he tore his ACL while playing basketball. He has opted to wait until the end of the season to have it repaired (which could always change if he gets replaced for not being able to preform well). He has not disclosed the extent of the injury, but ouch that is a hurtful injury. We'll all have to see what happens when the season kicks off with the Daytona 500 on Feb 14th.

3 Tips To Save $$$ Grocery Shopping

According to Motley Fool, there are very easy steps we can all take to save money on our grocery bill.

1) Bust out you chopping board; we spend extra money for the convenience of pre-chopped, pre-sliced, and pre-packaged foods. Bagged veggies are a great example, extra dollars are paid to have our broccoli tops cut off and bagged. Buy a head of broccoli and cut and baggie the tops yourself. (I am so guilty of this.)

2) Watch shelf labels; sometimes buying bigger isn't always a better deal, and sometimes it is. Pay attention to the price tags on the shelf, they break down the price per ounce for the product. For example a 20 oz bottle of soda for $1.39 sounds ridiculous when a few isles over a two litre bottle of pop can be just $.99.

3) Go store brand, not name brand. A huge amount of money can be saved by buying generic. Most of the time it is exactly the same product (or extremely similar) but at a lower price because extra money isn't added on to cover advertising and fancy packaging costs.

The Saints Go Marching On!

For the first time ever the New Orleans Saints will be going to the Superbowl! Last night was a edge-of-your-seat game, and I'm not even a Vikings fan. I did want to see Bret go to the Superbowl one last time, then see if he would decide to finally retire or not. But after a tied up game all four quarters then losing to a field goal during overtime, we will never know that scenario. It will still be interesting to see what his plans are. An awesome thing for the Saints, a great Cinderella story, definitely a boost that the folks in New Orleans needed. So the big game will feature the Indianapolis Colts and the New Orleans Saints.

5 Foods You Wouldn't Think Can Help You Lose Weight, But Do.

Like many of you I packed on a few pounds over the holidays, and made my New Years Resolution to take it off. Which means a painfully boring diet, none of the stuff that I love any more. I have sworn off soda, candy, chocolate, fast food, and the hardest one ever... doughnuts.
With all those things off my list I have been having a hard time trying to find good healthy food to eat until now. According the Mens Health Magazine these following foods are yummy and helpful in your weight loss battle.

1) Full-Fat Cheese; a great source of protein, and doesn't raise your LDL (bad) cholestrol.

2) Pork Chops; has 5 times more selenium (linked to lowing risk of prostate cancer) than beef and twice more then chicken. Also preserves muscle while losing weight.

3) Iced Coffee; reduces appetite, increases metabolism, and gives you a shot of antioxidants.

4) Grapefruit; people who ate 1/2 a fruit 3 times a day lost 4 pounds in 12 weeks. It is thought that the acid in grapefruits slows digestion, keeping you full longer.

5) Milk; Instead of fruit juice grab moo juice for breakfast. Both have the same amount of calories, but milk has more protein which makes you feel fuller longer.

6 Things To Avoid At A Job Interview

6 helpful tips from the Business Insider on what not to do at a job interview.

1) Make a great first impression.
*Check the email address on your resume, is it unprofessional? i.e. snugglebunnies@fakeemail.com. Email addresses are free, set one up special for professional use.

2) Don't over-exaggerate on your resume.
*Employers know the difference between "attended staff meetings" and "participated in co-leading team events".

3) Don't pile on the perfume
* A little dab will do ya.

4) Don't be needy
* Be available without being tooooo available.

5) Don't flirt with the interviewer
* No matter how much of a hottie they are, an interview is not the time to tell them.

6) Don't already have one foot in the door.
* Confidence is good arrogance is bad, don't assume you got it until you got it.

Haitian Cruise Controversy

We have, by now, all heard of the devastation in Haiti due to the earthquake, and now dealing with the thousands that are dead, or just fighting to survive. Which is why I was surprised to hear that Royal Caribbean Cruises have continued their vacation stops on the beaches of Haiti. On Sunday morning the luxury cruise ship docked on the beach of Haiti just miles from the devastation. Guests played on jet skis and were served fruity cocktails. Some passengers were offended that they were brought there, and stated their anger on social networking sites. A spokesperson from Royal Caribbean says they are needed to continue their stops there because of the economic impact they have on the country. The company leases the beach from Haiti, and the guests go shopping at the craft markets, bringing an income to the country. The also say that the cruise ship can be used to bring supplies to the rescue workers.

What do you think? Should Royal continue their stops at Haiti right now?
