According to forbes.com. Even though they say the worst is behind us, retail business is still hard. Last year hundred of thousands of stores shut their door and predictions don't look good for 2010. The following retailers look like they are in trouble still.
Waldenbooks/Borders= 2009 closed 110 stores. amazon.com is said to be a strong competitor to Waldenbooks/Borders, with the ease of buying online. By January 31st Waldenbooks/Border will complete closing another 240 stores.
Blockbuster= 2009 closed 300 stores. They are in the middle of a two year plan to close 960 stores. Blockbuster is trying to re-design by appealing to the masses with video rental kiosk's featuring new releases.
Starbucks= 2009 closed 566 stores. That is part of a plan to close 800 stores in two years.
Hopefully things will turn around and good things are headed our way.
