3 Tips To Save $$$ Grocery Shopping

According to Motley Fool, there are very easy steps we can all take to save money on our grocery bill.

1) Bust out you chopping board; we spend extra money for the convenience of pre-chopped, pre-sliced, and pre-packaged foods. Bagged veggies are a great example, extra dollars are paid to have our broccoli tops cut off and bagged. Buy a head of broccoli and cut and baggie the tops yourself. (I am so guilty of this.)

2) Watch shelf labels; sometimes buying bigger isn't always a better deal, and sometimes it is. Pay attention to the price tags on the shelf, they break down the price per ounce for the product. For example a 20 oz bottle of soda for $1.39 sounds ridiculous when a few isles over a two litre bottle of pop can be just $.99.

3) Go store brand, not name brand. A huge amount of money can be saved by buying generic. Most of the time it is exactly the same product (or extremely similar) but at a lower price because extra money isn't added on to cover advertising and fancy packaging costs.
