Recap From Pheonix NASCAR Race

No... Jimmie Johnson did not win this race, in case you were just anticipating hearing that again. Ryan Newman was able to make his first trip this year to the winners circle. Following Newman across the finish line was Jeff Gordon, Jimmie Johnson, Mark Martin and Juan Pablo Montoya. This race, being the Subway Fresh Fit 600, had many people confused and even bored. The 600 did not relate to how many miles the race was or even how many laps it was, the 600 is how many kilometers long the race was. This race was extended from 500 miles to 600 kilometers, taking it from 312 laps to 375 laps. This had people wondering what was up with that... there is nothing more American then NASCAR racing so why metric measurment all of a sudden? Luckily the race picked up that last 60 laps or so, but it still will raise the question of keeping the race at its extended length.
